Community Gardener Vacancy
They are looking for a self motivated, experienced freelance community gardener to work with us to create a community garden space with asylum seekers, refugees in the grounds of Lettsom Gardens SE5 and Peckham Park Rd Baptist Church (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
The PPRBP garden will be open to the public on and for the benefit of all people in the local community, of any faith or none ( Saturdays only).
 
Responsibilities:
–       Undertaking outreach with local community/faith groups and people living in the area to encourage and enable them to participate in designing, creating, managing and maintaining the community gardens
–       Facilitating weekly intergenerational gardening/growing food sessions.
–       Developing and facilitating three community garden events with participants
Essential:
–       Experience of gardening with a diverse range of community groups including children and vulnerable adults
–       Skills in facilitating community outreach, engagement and participation
–       Ability to train and support local people to manage and maintain the garden on an ongoing basis
Desirable:
–       Experience of and willingness to support fundraising
–       Hold a driving license
–       Speak another community language
Contract: 113 gardening sessions (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays).   5 hrs/40 week’s admin/planning meetings etc. Some flexible hours required
Fee: £50-60 per 3 hourly session and £20 per hour planning, admin etc., time.
Contract Dates: to be agreed.
