Do you have time for Lambeth?

Time4Lambeth, or timebanking, is a dynamic way to share skills, help others and build your local networks.

  • Do you want to improve your wellbeing?
  • Do you want to get more involved with your local community?
  • Do you want to use your favourite skills – and get something in return?

If you said YES to any of these questions then get in touch with Time4Lambeth.

What is timebanking?
Timebanking creates an environment that enables people to use their skills in their community to help each other and for doing so you are rewarded with Time Credits.

What are time credits?
Time Credits are what you are rewarded with for every hour you use your skills to help someone in your community. One hour of your time using your skills to help someone equals one Time Credit.

How do you use Time Credits?
Time Credits are exchanged when someone in your community uses their skills to help you. One Time Credit equals one hour of someone using their skills to help you.

How does timebanking work?
For example Angela, Marcus and the local gym are members of a local time bank. Angela does two hours gardening for Marcus which earns her two time credits. She ‘deposits’ her hours in the time bank and spend her credits on an exercise class at the local gym. Member Marcus is training to be a Fitness Instructor and he gets work experience by volunteering his time teaching gentle exercise at the local gym for time credits. The gym earns Time Credits by offering their studio to run his class.

From picking up a prescription to painting and decorating everyone’s time is valuable. All members can get involved with group activities, trips, courses and events run by Paxton Green Time bank.

Read on to find out more, or if you live in the Loughborough Junction area you can visit the Coldharbour Timebanking Hub. Segen, the Coldharbour Hub Broker, can tell you more about their activities and how to get involved.

People, community organisations and businesses can benefit from being able to access a wide range of skills, training, rewards and activities, all paid for with time credits.

Who are Time4Lambeth?
Time4Lambeth is an initiative supported by Paxton Green Time Bank, The London Community Foundation, Southside Rehabilitation and Metropolitan Housing Trust. We have come together to achieve one common aim – to create a happier, healthier, more sufficient community.
