A free six week training programme in print skills is on offer for unemployed young people (aged 18-25) living in the Loughborough Junction area.
The course is 15 hours a week and will not impact on benefits.
HustleBucks Skills Training Programme Eight young people will have the chance to participate in one of two six-week courses taking place between September and December 2013. The course will run three days a week and participants will have the chance to develop specialist skills relevant to employment in the design and printing industries. The course will run from 10.30am-4.30pm with an hour break for lunch as follows:
Weekly
Day 1 – screen printing course to be held at Clapham Print House (2A Stormont Road, London SW11 5EN)
Day 2 –vinyl Cutter and heat press printing technique (198 CAL/ HustleBucks Shop)
Day 3- software skills (required for art working and vinyl cutter operation) and direct to garment printing (198 CAL)
Over six weeks beginners will become competent in these processes enabling them to consider applying for jobs or further study. The course will cover health and safety, the use of these techniques in industry, how to apply these skills to start your own small business, employment opportunities in the design and printing industries and step by step training on how to use these techniques to a competent standard. Those attending will also be encouraged to participate in other activities which we currently run including – volunteering at HustleBucks Shop to gain work experience, creative projects where they can learn how to design for the HustleBucks brand, business mentoring and enterprise master classes and participation in showcasing events. 198 also offer opportunities in partnership with Youth Momentum including EVS work experience in UK and overseas, youth leadership courses and more. If further funding is secured participants can apply for one of our one year apprenticeships Level 2 NVQ Design or Community Arts.
