Hundreds turn out for Loughborough Junction’s carnival and Big Lunch

Loughborough Junction was treated to a wonderful spectacle of colour and costume on Sunday 1 June, when a carnival procession kicked off the Big Lunch celebrations.

The carnival costumes were, in many cases, made by the wearers with the help of Ray Mahabir, director at Sunshine International Arts, which is based right here in Loughborough Junction.

Further colour was added to the streets by the  yarn bombing organised by The House in The Junction. Lamp posts and fences on Loughborough Road and Coldharbour Lane were covered with colourful wool.

Residents were then treated to live music, food and activities outside the Hero of Switzerland on Loughborough Road and children were kept entertained with a bouncy castle, craft activities and face painting.
