Results of Loughborough Junction Plan survey announced

Nearly 550 people – representing over 10% of the households in Loughborough Junction – responded to the survey that asked for views on different projects and priorities within the wider Loughborough Junction Plan.  The main findings were:

For long-term projects to improve the area, Creating an attractive centre for Loughborough Junction at the junction of Coldharbour Lane and Loughborough Road was substantially the most popular option, with over half respondents making this their first choice.  Making the places where you enter Loughborough Junction more welcoming and Finding new ways through our neighbourhood for safe walking and cycling were about equal second favourites for long-term initiatives.

Looking at things that could be done quickly in the short term to improve the area, again there was a clear winner, with Environment improvements at the junction of Coldharbour Lane, Loughborough Road and Hinton Road, being chosen by 40%.

Create a safe walking and cycle route along Luxor Street, Flaxman Road, Gordon Grove and Minet Road (the first section is along Cambria Road and Coldharbour Lane) and Create a safe walking and cycling route from Loughborough Park to Ruskin Park through Warrior Yard at junction of Coldharbour Lane and Hinton Road were runners up.

We are still looking in more detail at the many innovative ideas for other improvements that residents suggested,  as well as preferred locations for cycle parking and a possible Barclay’s bike scheme.

In terms of who replied, slightly more women than men returned postal or online questionnaires. The majority of replies came from working age adults over 25 years old.  Nearly one in ten said they had some form of disability.  The largest single ethnic group replying was ‘white British’, with a range of other ethnicities described.

The three winners of the prize draw have been chosen at random, and they will be getting their awards soon.  Many thanks to all those that took part – we’ll make sure your ideas and priorities are considered.
