Volunteers needed for Loughborough Junction First World War app project

Are you interested in local history, doing research or the First World War? We need volunteers to help us carry out research into the Great War, in particular into its impact on Loughborough Junction and the surrounding areas.

What is the project?
To mark the centenary of World War One (1914-18) we will create an app to be used on smart phones and tablets, which will superimpose images and stories from the First World War onto your real-time view of Loughborough Junction as seen through your device’s camera. This technology is called augmented reality. Real stories from life around Loughborough Junction during the war will be combined with the wider history of the war to create fictional stories. The stories will also be available online.

We are ready to begin our research so volunteers are needed for an immediate start. Research will be carried out at the Lambeth Archives, Imperial War Museum, Gillies Archives and the London Transport Museum. Training will be provided and expenses covered.

We also need volunteers to help us with monitoring and stewarding at story gathering and launch events.
